Governor Youngkin Proclaims August as Virginia Craft Beer Month

Governor Glenn Youngkin has officially proclaimed August 2025 as Virginia Craft Beer Month—recognizing the vital role craft brewers play in the Commonwealth’s economy, culture, and communities.

Virginia is home to 345 licensed independent craft breweries—generating $1.5 billion in economic impact and supporting thousands of jobs across the state. The industry has grown into a cornerstone of Virginia’s manufacturing and tourism sectors.

“This proclamation is a powerful acknowledgment of the innovation, resilience, and economic impact of Virginia’s craft beer industry,” said Brett Vassey, President & CEO of the Virginia Craft Brewers Guild. “Independent craft beer is more than a beverage—it’s a champion of community spirit and a symbol of fearless entrepreneurship.”

The Virginia Craft Beer Summit & Gala on Monday, August 11, will kick off the month’s celebrations. This signature event brings together brewers, industry professionals, and craft beer enthusiasts for educational sessions, networking, and a gala honoring the winners of the Virginia Craft Beer Cup™, Virginia Brewery of the Year™, and The Best Firkin Beer in VA™.

To close out the month, the Virginia Craft Beer Cup™ winners and Guild leaders will be honored at a reception at the Governor’s Mansion.
